So, first, new artwork up in the traditional gallery!
In other news, I’ve been working for about a week and a half now on a story–it’s shaping up to be a short story/novella, depending on word count after revisions. ^^
So, for the moment that is taking a lot of my creative focus. I’ll probably post excerpts from it in the near future, or maybe the whole thing–I haven’t decided yet.
But I’ve been talking for the past two weeks about Chaos Theory, Emergent Order, and Strange Attractors, here and here.
Where am I going with these discussions? Well, here’s the thing–they play a pivotal role in an artistic project I’m going to be doing–also in the works. It’s about a world that is semi-real, and I’ll be chronicling the world. To get you started thinking about the concepts that I’ll be exploring with this project, I’d like to point out that strange attractors play a key role in life and Identity. That’s really what our identity is–a strange attractor; what we like, what we don’t like, what we do… every fact about us all “tends” towards some invisible force that seems to define us.
That is my offering of a non-cosmological definition of the Soul. The Soul is the strange attractor around which everything about us, from our identity to our choices, gravitates towards in a random fashion that technically never repeats itself exactly.
We spend a good deal of time worrying about who we are, but I want to make the point that it’s important to find new ways to be yourself. Change is often scary to us, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be bad–if we seek to find new ways to be ourselves, then we can preserve who we are in face of change. In fact, we may often find that the new thing we move into feels like it more accurately reflects the true nature of our soul… That it’s more “us” than what we were doing before.
So in summary, find new ways to be yourself.
Got a little off topic, but when I start moving on the Chronicle project, I’ll link back to this post to refresh the ideas.
